Violence As the Answer

A scream
A bump
Blood flying
Like water from a flung hose

I am NOT a violent person

When I was younger
Me and her used to always
fight each other
Til they beat us both
And we learned to fight together

A scream
A bump
Blood running
Like the Mississippi after a storm

I am NOT a violent person

We took it to the streets
Any challenge
Any disrespect
Was met w/ 4 fists
2 kicks
2 knees

The rush of it all
Captured her
Scared me

A scream
A thump
Blood drip dropping
Like water from a leaky faucet

I am NOT a violent person

We left those streets
Slowly went different ways
I went to a place
Where there was talk
NO action
Found myself
Becoming a bottle
Filled w/emotion
I could no longer
Release

She went to a place
Where fear
Drove actions
Drove them to ignorant actions
Where you didn't pick your battles
You fought ALL battles
Never escaping the rush
And while I was gripped in
The hand of the fear I had for her
She was free-er
Somehow

A sob
a knock
Blood spills
Like wine from a knocked over glass

I feared for her
And when trouble followed her
I made sure
It was once again me and she
That met it w/
4 fists
2 kicks
2 knees
Even though the rush of it all
Scared me
But yet I never thought
to think
That the real trouble
Might be lurking inside
Or that our psuedo safety
Might be jeopardized
And now I fear our protection
More than I ever did our enemies

There was a scream
A bump
And when I reached her
All I could see was the blood
Anger, Helplessness, Hate engulfed me in a flood

I was NOT a violent person
